Lou Razon celebrates 10th year with the opening of an online store: Barongdesigns.com
Balita News February 2-5, 2008

RENOWNED designer/couturier Lou Razon launches her new website showcasing her barong tagalong and filipiniana collection. With ten years in business, Lou continues to promote Philippine tradition through the use of indigenous material like pina and jusi. In connection with the eco-friendly fabrics that are popular this year, Lou sees to it that Philippine fiber is also being utilized to promote healthy environment.

She is one of the pioneers in the US to incorporate Philippine material into her designs, making the barong tagalong and filipiniana more contemporary, practical and trendy. Gone are the days when barong is perceived as a costume.

Today, 75 percent of her Filipino-American clients prefer to wear the barong and filipiniana in weddings and social events. Lou sees to it that the styles she designs are more modern and wearable. She offers custom designing to those who want to wear unique and one-of-a-kind creation.

From consultation, sketching, patternmaking and fitting, Lou delivers the barong at her highest standard of quality. And for those out-of-state clients, Lou made her new website available for them to view her latest collection as well as to place their orders without leaving their own homes.

“It has always been my pride and joy to bring the barong tagalong to the United States to help our fellow Filipinos enjoy the opportunity of having a design specially made for them”, she says. Lou Razon Redefines Filipiniana

When the term “Filipiniana” comes to mind, many tend to refer to the traditional Maria Clara or Mestiza design. However, as of today designer Lou Razon has redefined Filipiniana by uniting the old with the new, developing a unique and harmonious Filipino fashion.

Lou Razon introduces a modern way to represent a Filipiniana theme wedding. For the bride, a wedding gown is made with traditional piña or jusi fabrics and is cut into a contemporary strapless or off the shoulder design. Accompanying the gown can include anything from a long beautiful train to a delicate panuelo.

Lou Razon offers a variation of designs custom to fit the theme for the entire wedding entourage. Bridesmaids’ dresses come in endless styles. Imagine a refined embroidered organza fabric designed into stylish silhouettes with details ranging from sweetheart necklines to elegant strapless gowns. Principal sponsors, or ninangs, will look chic in a fitted piña jusi Kimono blouse in any desired color. The mother of the bride or groom will look luxurious in a feminine piña jusi blazer, intricately embroidered to her liking.

If you seek a classical twist, Lou Razon’s revolutionary designs will satisfy your stylish appetite. A Filipiniana wedding can stay true to its traditional roots, while adding a contemporary flare, making your wedding a unique and unforgettable occasion.
